21 July 2011:
Annual Garden Fête raises £1,670 for charity

On Saturday 9th July we hosted our Annual Garden Fête which was once again held in aid of the East Surrey Alzheimer's Society. By popular demand the Redhill & Reigate Community Big Band made a return appearance entertaining everyone during the afternoon with their performances of Dixie Land music. Other attractions of the fête included the ever popular home produce stall, tombolas and raffles. One of the raffle prizes was for a free gliding lesson and 90 day free membership kindly donated by the Surrey Hills Gliding Club.

In total the event raised £1,670 for the charity, a fantastic amount which surpassed even last year's achievement.

Tupwood Gate Matron & manager Jenny Roach said, "thanks to all those who helped make our annual fête such a resounding success, if it wasn't for your help on the day, I am sure we wouldn't have raised the amazing sum of £1670.00 for the benefit of the East Surrey Alzheimer's Society. We were very lucky that the weather behaved itself for us and I believe that everyone had a fantastic time. I have had many compliments on how willingly staff gave of their time. A special thanks to all the residents families who helped."
